Lewis A. Edge, Jr.
President
Immediately after receiving his B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering, Lewis joined the Georgia Air National Guard, serving one year in active duty and five years in the active reserves, where he completed post-graduate studies in automatic-tracking radar, missile guidance systems and multi-channel
communications systems. Prior to his graduation from college, Lewis satisfied all requirements for a First Class Radiotelephone Operator's License from the
Federal Communications Commission, qualifying himself as a licensed broadcast engineer.
While working as a full-time broadcaster, Lewis also worked part-time as a free-lance writer, publishing his first national magazine article in 1965.
For more than thirty five years as a writer, he has published scores of articles in newspapers, national magazines and business journals.
In 1981, after a twenty-year career in the radio and television industry in advertising sales management, general management and engineering, he left his position as General Manager of the Broadcast Division of Nassau Broadcasting in Princeton, NJ to become a part owner,
and General Manager of Computer Encounter, an Apple, IBM and Hewlett Packard computer store in Princeton, which he sold to his partners a year later.
In October of 1982, he opened and managed the Eastern Regional Office for T.H.E. Journal, a monthly magazine about applications of technology in education. A year later he was promoted to Vice President. He was responsible for all of their advertising sales in the eastern region. Drawing on his extensive background as a free-lance writer, he also wrote the leading article for each issue titled, "Product Profile," which consistently drew the largest number of Reader Service responses of any ad or feature in the magazine.
By the time Lewis left T.H.E. Journal on June 30, 1986, to form his own publishers' representative firm, he had given them an 828% increase in revenues during his four years there and was booking about $1 Million in annual ad space. In a five-magazine market, T.H.E. Journal enjoyed an 80 percent share of all ad placements in his region!
Lewis Edge & Associates, Inc. was incorporated in June, 1986 and began operations on July 1st of the same year. Since its inception as a small company representing only two magazines, Lewis Edge & Associates, Inc. has grown rapidly into a multi-million dollar sales organization.
Lewis Edge has been an active member of all the communities in which he has lived. In his younger years he was a member of Jaycees where he held several club offices and was also a member of a Kiwanis club when he lived in Plattsburgh, New York. He has been a member of several Rotary Clubs since 1968 ,
served as President of the Lawrence Township, New Jersey Rotary Club (1981-1982),
as President of the Rotary Club of Princeton, New Jersey (1994-1995) and has
received numerous Rotary awards including six Paul Harris Fellow recognitions,
the Rotary Foundation District Service Award and The Rotary International
Commitment to Service Award. He served as an officer and member of the Board of Directors of the Community Guidance Center of Mercer County (now the Family Guidance Center) for twelve years,
served as the organization's President for two years and is now Director
Emeritus.
